3 x versatile chore jackets & how to wear them
This time of year I'm sure we all feel ready to throw off the shackles of our thick winter wardrobes and embrace the sunny days we've been having.....and yet, it's still a bit chilly. I recommend doing some layering and for that, I'd suggest the versatility of a chore jacket. Originally made for working in, these have now become stylish and practical and can be dressed up or down and also layered in different ways - see my suggestions below.
Navy is probably the first choice for a lot of guys, so this one is a fail-safe option. Made from Ventile, it's weatherproof so great for those upcoming Spring showers no doubt we'll have.
You could layer this in between a check shirt and a wool coat for when it's cold or it could just go on top of a t-shirt once it gets warmer. I could also see this being worn in a smarter way - try it with some grey flannel trousers, casual white shirt and a fine knit navy crew neck. Wear with white leather trainers and you've nailed that tricky smart/casual look.
Navy 'Navvy' Ventile jacket - Personal Effects at Opumo - £250
I really like the combination of wool and linen this jacket is made of, which not only makes it soft and comfortable to wear but also very adaptable as to when you could wear it. The way it's styled here (which I really like) makes it look quite Spring like and you could take that one step further into Summer by wearing a white t-shirt and some tan chinos. But it would also look great for cold days with a chunky navy sweater underneath, a pair of dark indigo jeans and some chocolate brown boots. And, if it starts snowing in March like it did last year, pop a houndstooth coat on top and you'll be sorted!
Teal lightweight shacket - Private White VC - £420
In a bid to break away from the blues, I chose this brick red coloured jacket for the next option. If you do have a ton of blue in your wardrobe then it will look great with pretty much any shade, from dark navy to pastel blue or chambray.
You could also go more tonal and mix it with mustard coloured chinos or cords and a cream flannel shirt. And the third way I can imagine it being styled, would be to add it to grey - perhaps going a bit smarter with this look and wearing it with grey tweed trousers, a button down striped shirt and tan Chukka boots.
