5 ways to wear pastel this Spring

While the weather is dreary and raining, the shops are awash with items in pastel ice cream shades - mint, pistachio, vanilla, and raspberry are just some of the colours you can choose from.

But for some guys this is a step too far from their comfort zone of blacks, greys and 50 shades of blue. If you're in that camp and can't quite see yourself wearing pastel tones, then here are my suggestions as to how you might be able to introduce them into your wardrobe this Spring.

Keep the rest of your outfit neutral

Stone chinos and brown trainers are something most guys might find they already have in their wardrobe and if you add this dusty pink sweatshirt to it, it'll give them a fresh new look. The muted tone of the pink won't feel like it stands out too much but do check it against your skin tone first to make sure it suits you.

Stay within your comfort zone of blue

Just one teeny, tiny step away from your beloved blues, this mint coloured polo knit will look great with a pair of navy cotton chinos to take them into summer mode. Wear with white trainers and a denim jacket for a more casual look or some chocolate brown suede Derbies and a grey blazer to smarten it up.

Wear with a piece of neutral knitwear

Instead of opting for your default pale blue Oxford shirt, why not try out this yellow one instead? Put it under a navy fine knit cardigan or crew neck and wear with charcoal trousers and it's guaranteed to make you feel cheery on a Monday morning.

Put colour under a chambray shirt

One easy way to wear colour is to see just a hint of it. Wear this peach t-shirt under an open chambray shirt with jeans at the weekends for a casual Spring look. Alternatively you could try it under a check shirt which has a touch of this colour in it.

Wear it as outerwear

A lot of functional outerwear comes in brighter colours which you've probably worn before, but shied away from with other jackets. If most of your wardrobe is in neutral tones then this lavender parka style jacket won't be so hard to incorporate. With charcoal jeans and a grey sweatshirt you'lll barely notice you have any colour on.
