A summer in seersucker suiting

The word seersucker comes from "kheer aur shakkar" in Hindi, which means "milk and sugar" as apparently the bumpy, puckered texture of the fabric, formed by the weaving process. resembles the smooth texture of milk and the bumpy texture of sugar.

Hmmm, that wouldn't have immediately sprung to my mind, but nevertheless I do think this fabric is rather superb - lightweight, cool and comfortable to wear and as an added bonus, no ironing required! What's not to love?!

So I've searched out some seersucker tailoring for you and put together some outfits which I think would be great for any summer events you have coming up, where you need to look smart but keep your cool.

Burberry Prorsum seersucker blazer - personal shopping and stying for men

First up is a Burberry Prorsum navy seersucker jacket. I imagine this at a smart garden party type of affair. Keep it fresh and summery with dusty pink cotton chinos from Band of Outsiders, and a toning webbing belt by Paul Smith. The grey 120% Lino shirt is in keeping with the chalky colours and natural feel of the outfit, and the multicoloured cotton tie from The Hill-Side and suede Folk derbies complete the look keeping it elegant and textural.

Engineered Garments seersucker suiting - personal shopping and styling for men

More of an unstuctured feel this time with a full suit in seersucker from Engineered Garments at Trunk Clothiers. With the crisp Beams+ white shirt, and plaited Folk belt I think this would be perfect for a beach wedding - looking smart to start and then as the party gets in full swing, shrug off the jacket and Lanvin tie pin, kick off the Kurt Geigers and get down to boogie on the beach!

Sip tea on the terrace in this fresh ensemble. Brooks Brothers have opted for classic blue and white stripes for their seersucker blazer, and the mint green J.Crew shirt keeps it crisp and clean. Navy YMC chinos create a simple backdrop so you can add aqua triangle print tie from Reiss, and paisley print Hugo Boss pocket square. Finish off with tie clip and navy tasselled loafers by Paul Smith for sophisticated summer afternoons.
