Blue cotton sweaters for Summer
Do you have 'summer' sweaters in your wardrobe? When it gets a bit colder or there's a wind blowing in the evening it's nice to have something to put on and cotton and linen are the more summery options to wool.
These blues remind me of the sea and are an easy go to colour choice for most men. Get prepared for life after lockdown and treat yourself!
A very summery casual knit, which almost has a sweatshirt feel to it but just that bit smarter. You could style it like they have here, wear it with shorts, or maybe even with a casual cotton suit and white trainers. It'll look good with khaki's and beiges too.
Navy open knit striped cotton sweater - Club Monaco at Mr Porter - £155
Handknitted in Ireland, this jumper is made from linen. I find these drapey loose sort of knits are perfect on bigger guys so they can drape well over the body, and they're especially great if you like your clothes to look a little more relaxed, rather than too neat and proper. I'm not keen on how they've styled it over on the Matches website, but I think it'd look amazing with a pair of ecru jeans and some desert boots and a denim jacket on top.
Honda 50 ribbed shoulder linen sweater - Inis Meáin at Matches - £230
I actually bought this sweater with a client at the very beginning of the season. It looked great on him as he had red hair and the warm teal colour stripe in it was really flattering and brought out his natural colouring. If you always wear plain, stripes are an easy option to bring some pattern in to your wardrobe. It's only available at the moment in XXL on the website but it's possible you may be able to find it in one of their stores?
'Fisher' navy striped crew neck jumper - Reiss - £55
With all the different colours in this sweater, it will go with loads of things - beige shorts and espadrilles, light coloured denim and trainers, black jeans and Chelsea boots or beige chinos, a white button down and navy suede brogues. I love a good all-rounder and sometimes though you think a pattern would be trickier to wear it can actually be really versatile.
Blue space dyed cotton sweater - Club Monaco at Mr Porter - £190
I love the texture and worn in look of this sweater. On the website it says it's grey, though in the pictures it looks blue. (I'll update you if I get a chance to pop in-store and have a look). It would look great with darker coloured trousers or shorts and I love the idea of perhaps a touch of yellow with this too - maybe in a woven belt or a scarf?
Soft cotton crew neck sweater - Slowear - £310
"Sarah pulled out all the stops to provide me with a truly *personal* shopping experience: prepping thoroughly, whisking me to different shops then following up with a heap of good combinations with what I got.
She knows the ins and outs of men’s fashion so much, from the fundamentals to the finishing touches.
It was fun too, ruthlessly working through different options in different shops and great to have an enthusiastic and candid opinion on what works and what doesn’t."
