Bold coloured jumpers for cold weather

January and February can feel like long months as we wait for the brighter days........so for this post, I thought I'd fast forward to Spring with these BOLD and BRIGHT knitwear suggestions.

If you're bored of wearing blue, black and grey, like many of my clients who ask me how to introduce more colour into their wardrobes, then I've given you some examples of outfits to copy here but also explained how you can tone them down more for a more casual look.

Stussy bright pink sweater - personal styling and shopping for men

Would you dare to go this bold? Personally I love the outfit above but I realise that might be a step too far for some. Think of the sweater as more like a sweatshirt though (you're used to wearing brighter colours in sportswear, right?) and switch out the grey flannel trousers for charcoal jeans and the navy coat for a peacoat or puffa and finish with some trainers and it's super wearable.

Cos bright green jumper - personal styling and shopping for men

This colour is particularly good on people with warmer skin tones or red tones in their hair. You don't have to go full on with a jacket in the same colour but could tone it down a bit with a denim chore jacket for example. Similar to the first image, I like this mix of a more casual jumper with formal trousers, but if your lifestyle never demands that sort of outfit, then throw it on with some cord jeans to add some fun to your weekend wear.

Sunspel mustard sweater - personal styling and shopping for men

Who needs the sun to be in the sky when you're wearing it? Brighten up the remaining days of winter by wearing this sweater with a camel coat and jeans as he is in the picture. Or if that feels too much for you, then stick with your neutrals - yellow looks great with grey or navy and of course, denim. Red socks entirely optional!

Jemiesons of Shetland red polo neck jumper - personal styling and shopping for men

This outfit not only has some great layering......I love a denim jacket under another jacket/coat.....but is brought to life by a shot of red in the form of this bright red polo neck. Next time you're shopping on autopilot and reaching for a classic blue, grey or black (to sit with the hundreds of others you have in your wardrobe already!) think again and try something a little bolder.

Drakes blue shetland jumper - personal styling and shopping for men

I know I said we were trying to get away from blue but I've allowed this one to sneak in as it's a brighter shade. Swap the chore jacket he's wearing in this picture for a navy one, and wear the brighter blue sweater with a chambray shirt underneath. The scarf brings the colours together (get a similar one here) and at the weekend you could replace the grey flannel trousers with grey jeans and suddenly you have a more varied and interesting outfit for the weekend, than your regular blue jeans / navy jumper combo.

"I felt like I'd become a bit safe in my clothing (and colour choices) and booked a colour consult with Sarah to shake things up a bit and give me a sense of what to by (and what not to) to build a more cohensive wardrobe. It was a great session, and since Sarah has given me some great options to follow up on."
