Capsule warm weather wardrobe
You may have been away already but if the weather is set to continue like this in the UK, then it's worth stocking up on these very lightweight items for summer. It's definitely something I don't have enough of in my wardrobe as the days you can wear them are usually a lot more limited than they have been recently, and regular summer wear is fine.
Once we get into the 30s temperature-wise, it's a whole different ball game, hence this post! I hope it's useful if you want a quick dash to the shops (or the virtual equivalent) for some no-brainer options. And of course, if you'd prefer to have some advice more specific to you personally, then send me a message and we can book you in for a styling or shopping session.
In super lightweight cotton, this is just the right shirt for scorching days, whether here in the UK or on holiday. Whilst I was waiting in the shop for the assistant to check sizes for me, another customer commented that these were his absolute favourite shirts and he has tons of them! So if you haven't yet tried them, then perhaps it's time to follow in his footsteps and you might find yourself saying the same thing.
Ice blue 'Standard' shirt - James Perse - £169
A client bought these shorts on a recent shopping trip....he was looking for something comfortable to wear but a smarter upgrade to his current selection. They're anti-crease - great for packing, have a 2 way stretch so are comfy, and water resistant so very useful if you're hanging out near the water. They also pack away into one of the pockets making them the perfect travel companion.....your suitcase needs a pair of these in it!
Technical fabric regular fit shorts - Slowear - £280
Just like the airtex one you had for school sports........only now James Bond is wearing it! An excellent basic in a fabulously airy mesh fabric to keep you cool, you can't go wrong with one of these in your holiday wardrobe. Wear it with the navy shorts from above for a daytime jaunt round the local town or with the lightweight trousers below for casual evening dinners. Your holiday might not be quite as action packed as a Bond film, but you'll know you look as good as him whilst wearing this shirt.
White 'Riviera' cotton mesh polo shirt - Sunspel at Mr Porter - £105
These 'fishtail' style trousers come in loads of different fabrics.....the client I was shopping with lives in Australia, so we went for these lightweight grey cotton ones. As I've mentioned in previous blog posts, Oliver Spencer trousers are generously cut on the thighs, so if you're heavy into cycling, or love your leg days at the gym, then give them a try. You can dress them up with the matching jacket if you'd like a casual suit for a summer wedding, or wear them with one of the shirts from above and the shoes below for warm evenings out.
Light grey 'Wigmore' fishtail trousers - Oliver Spencer - £189
A cross between espadrilles and deck shoes in an elegant shade of dark grey, suede these are a great choice for summer holidays if you're not so keen on the more traditional slip-on style of espadrilles. They go with shorts, trousers and jeans alike, and the rope sole is a must for summer.
Grey 'Felipe' suede espadrilles - Scarosso - £145
