Client profile - what we bought

Yesterday I had a very successful shopping trip at Harvey Nichols with a client. We got some superb bargains in the sale, and managed to get just about everything on his wishlist.

Sheltered from the crowds in Harvey Nichols' Style Concierge, I had everything ready for him when he arrived, swapped and changed sizes as and when needed, so all he had to do was the trying on and deciding.

He bought 21 items in total - here's a selection of them:

On my client's wishlist were warm, chunky sweaters (the ancient, battered M&S one he was wearing has now retired to it's rightful place in the bin!),  casual shirts and jeans. He prefers a slim classic cut rather than too skinny and these 7 For All Mankind ones were just right. We went down a size on these as they have quite a lot of stretch in them and interestingly they varied in fit from colour to colour. So if you're thinking of getting more than one pair in different colours - make sure you try them all on!

The chunky blue sweater from Joseph is very thick and easy to wear, and a bit of a bargain as it's down from £198 to £95.

Flannel shirting is really soft and comfortable for the winter months and this shirt, also from Joseph's sale is a no brainer in pale blue. As well as looking good with jeans we also tried it with some formal navy wool trousers and a dark green & navy striped cashmere sweater which looked great.

I'm a big fan of Nudie and at £115 their jeans are not priced sky high like some of the other brands. The Steady Eddie cut is a straight / slim and in black they ring the changes for your casual wardrobe.

A print shirt makes a definite switch from the plains and stripes of workwear, and this J.Lindeberg one goes well with jeans or tailored trousers for an evening out.

My client is always on the lookout for good t-shirts with interesting prints. Being in his late thirties and fairly classic in style he prefers something with a relatively understated logo. This one from Paul Smith Jeans did the trick nicely along with a blue and white striped one I found.

Nicole Farhi did us proud yesterday and we picked up these 3 shirts above for a song! This fine needlecord shirt in dark bottle green looked great against my client's dark hair and is an easy colour to wear, plus it makes a great alternative from the ever present blues in most men's wardrobes.

The shirt in the middle is another soft flannel one in charcoal with large pocket detail and could be worn over a t-shirt for an extra layer or with knitwear on colder days. We bought a navy fleck chunky zip cardigan which was perfect with it.

The check purple shirt on the right goes well with the washed black jeans from above and with £100 off, what's not to like?!

Although not in the sale this Joseph overcoat is well priced at £645. It's a very flattering style with it's peak lapels and was different from the single breasted straight style my client already has.

As he's off to New York soon, I thought I'd better equip him with a very thick scarf and hat to ward off the cold winds. These are also from Nicole Farhi and have been massively reduced from £125 to £45 and £75 to £25........so quick - get them while you can! It's hard to tell from the images but the colour is a charcoal grey with a navy tinge in between the ribbing.

Other than these items we got 4 pairs of formal work trousers, another 3 sweaters, a Jacob Cohen casual shirt and another t-shirt. All in all a pretty successful morning.
