Double breasted jackets
I haven't featured many double breasted jackets on my blog before, or suggested them to many clients, for fear of being shot down with the "it's a bit Miami Vice" remark. But hey, they're back in a big way and becoming more mainstream now, so I thought it was time I introduced them onto my, and your radar again.
Here are my picks for Summer:
An excellent colour for summer to go with all sorts of things - indigo jeans, cream jeans, black trousers, beige linen trousers and it also has matching trousers if you're one of the lucky few who are chosen to be invited to the smaller weddings people are holding, post lockdown. Wear it with a t-shirt, lightweight knit polo shirt, or airtex shirt underneath for an elegant Talented Mr Ripley style.
Sepia compact linen double breasted blazer - Timothy Everest - £249
If you like to keep your tailoring on the casual side of things, then opt for this unlined jacket. The great thing about this navy and white is that it'll go equally well with dark trousers or light - navy chinos or pale grey. It'll also traverse smart casual styles and you can wear it with smart dark trousers and a crisp white shirt for business meetings or to formalise jeans and a t-shirt. All in all, it'll work hard for it's money - which is good news as it's not the cheapest of jackets but I'm sure you'd get your cost per wear.
Navy and white houndstooth unlined double breasted jacket - G. Inglese at The Rake - £1,355
I've had a bit of a run of buying olive green jackets recently, having bought 2 with a client on a recent shopping trip. (An unstructured cotton one from Universal Works and a linen field jacket from Oliver Spencer if you're interested). I didn't come across this one until later but I love a bit of seersucker for a casual modern look which keeps you cool too. This one is also part of a suit which would look great but you could also split them up too.
'Sutton' olive seersucker double breasted suit jacket - Todd Snyder - £539
Another seersucker option and if you don't have any blazers, a navy one is always a good starting point. Again it comes with matching trousers or wear it with sand chinos, or pale green or embrace the summer trend for cream jeans for a clean and classic look.
Navy cotton seersucker double breasted blazer - Timothy Everest - £199
A slightly smarter option here in a pale grey puppytooth - I always think a grey blazer needs a bit of texture of pattern otherwise it can look a bit "school blazer-ish". This would liven up black and navy for summer or go for lighter colours for a more casual look.
