Perfect Pairing - macs and umbrellas
Part of looking stylish is dressing appropriately for the occasion, and more often than not that includes factoring in the weather. There’s nothing more satisfying than the smug feeling you get when you know you’ve nailed it - you’re standing up to the elements but you’ve managed to look good too!
Therefore I'd say a mac is pretty essential in every guy’s wardrobe......I've chosen navy as one of the most versatile but you could also go for a classic stone or sand colour. You can put it over a suit for a rainy day commute, or wear it layered over a gilet or chunky knitwear for weekends. And if your style is more smart casual then put it on top of a sweatshirt and denim jacket, and wear with chinos and trainers.
Another thing I always think contributes to looking good, is paying attention to the details. This means continuing your style through to your accessories…..like the umbrella you carry. My current favourites are by London Undercover, some of which you can see below.
This rubberised mac with bright blue drawstring by PS by Paul Smith will look great over a cashmere navy crew neck sweater, dark jeans and white trainers. If it's cold, wear a padded gilet for extra insulation. Complement this with London Undercover's blue check umbrella to keep the rain at bay.
If you travel a lot for work, this classic Aquascutum showerproof mac packs away into a small pouch, so it's your ideal travelling companion. Or for those days when the weather can't make up it's mind and it's on/off rain it can easily be packed away when the sun comes out and whipped back out to fend off the showers. Wear it with a chunky cream submariner sweater, jeans and brogue boots, and flip the collar to show the club check which goes perfectly with this khaki umbrella
Breathable, windproof & waterproof - what's not to love about this Welter Shelter mac? For a classic smart / casual look, wear it with a pair of grey flannel trousers, chambray shirt and forest green wool polo shirt and add the finishing touch with this green tartan umbrella.
