Tailored sweatpants for working from home
Following on from my previous post about dressing for home and video conferencing during the lockdown, I realised a potential need for some tailored waist sweatpants. Comfy enough to sit on your sofa with your laptop all day, but smart enough to fool your co- workers you're dressed for business when you have to jump up during a conference call with them.
(When actually you're ready at a moments notice to nip out for your "one form of exercise" lunchtime jog.....but shhhhh I won't tell anyone).
This is the grey version of the navy ones I mentioned in my previous post. They're made of a breathable micro-waffle cotton with a brushed cotton lining (mmm....cosy) and were built for sitting on planes, hence the name, travel trousers. But as the only place you'll be travelling to in the next few weeks will be your sofa, they'll do just as nicely for that, thank you very much.

I discovered these when researching travel wear for a personal shopping client. They looked great on and have various features - some of which you won't need at this moment in time - reflective cuff details for a cycling commute, a zippered pocket to stash valuables, but some which I'm sure you'll appreciate at any time such as the 2 way stretch fabric, streamlined fit and their very thoughtful ABC design - this stands for "Anti Ball Crushing - to give the boys some room" - their words, not mine!
Dark olive slim 'Commission pant' - Lululemon - £118
If you want to go for a super luxe lockdown look - then these Zegna joggers are for you. Made from a cotton and silk jersey knit, they'll be uber comfy for getting stuck in to working from home and when you pop out for your daily walk, you won't feel embarrassed when you bump into the neighbour and stop for a chat.....from a very safe 2m away of course and all the better for them to stand back and admire your very chic #wfh outfit.

Going for an urban casual look here in a slim cut style, Ron Dorff does sophisticated sportswear brilliantly. Uncover the striped waistband with a tucked tee when home alone or hide the sporty detail of it for a more formal conference call. Wear them with a white button down shirt and navy cardigan to hit the perfect balance of smart casual styling for working from home.

If you really want to get down with the comfort vibe and would like to embrace the wider leg silhouette that's coming in, then lounging around in these relaxed fit Tencel trousers might just be the perfect thing. Strut your stuff in them whilst staying safe at home with a t-shirt and boxy overshirt and when the lockdown lifts, venture out in them with chunky soled Derbies and a lightweight sweater for a Spring look.

I ended up buying very few new garments yet feel as though I have a wardrobe which is refreshed and now have a pretty good idea of what to wear (and what not to wear)!" - Mike
