Update your wardrobe with "Greenery"

Most of my clients come to me because they'd like some fresh, new ideas on how they could enhance their personal style and and take it one step further. Often this can be done just by making a few changes, and one of the quickest ways to do it is by expanding the colour range they wear.

This year, Pantone has decreed that "Greenery" is the colour for 2017. This is how they describe it:

"Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate."

Green is also described by colour psychologists as symbolising balance, harmony and growth and being the most restful colour to the eye. It's also the colour you see most in a natural environment so it's sure to be calming - and who doesn't need a little more of that in their life?!

With that in mind, I've stalked the stores for you and picked out some pieces of greenery that you may like to introduce into your wardrobe this Spring:

Gant Rugger sweatshirt - personal shopping style advice for men

Gant Rugger organic crew in Chlorophyll green - £100 - Gant Rugger has obviously been paying attention to the Pantone colour class, as this sweatshirt is the exact shade of green they suggest. It'll add a fresh look to dark denim jeans and a navy jacket or alternatively navy chinos and a denim jacket. Touches of white in a t-shirt / shirt / trainers will enhance it's Springlike qualities even further. It's a warm, yellow green so if you have olive or slightly freckled skin this is likely to suit you.

Reiss green suede jacket - personal shopping and styling for men

Reiss "Holt" green suede collared jacket - £375 - The perfect option for the transition into Spring, this olive green jacket is easy to add into your wardrobe and will look great with all your neutral colours of blacks, greys, stone and navy. Layer up with shirt, sweater and toning scarf whilst the days are still chilly or wear over a just a t-shirt when it warms up. This shade of green will be flattering if you have soft muted colouring - ie: not much contrast between your hair/skin/eye colour.

Moncler green t shirt - personal stylist for men

Moncler green t-shirt with side stripe detail - Harvey Nichols - £125 - I'm a big fan of this deep pine shade of green. Wear now with blue, black or grey jeans or when we move further into Summer with a pair of pale grey or stone chinos or shorts. This shade is particularly good on guys with a lot of contrast in their colouring ie: very dark hair and pale skin - think David Milliband.

Officine Generale trousers - personal shopper for men

Officine Generale cotton chinos - Harrods £150 - These will look excellent with a classic combo of pale blue shirt, fitted navy blazer and black or dark brown brogues. Or click through to Harrods to see how they've styled a casual version using the same colours. Remember to tone your socks with your trousers rather than your shoes or alternatively bring in the blue colour of your shirt to the socks you wear.

Oliver Spencer trainers - personal styling for men

Oliver Spencer Ambleside low top trainers - £179 - If you're not so sure about which shade of green will suit you, then play it safe and wear it in your shoes. These Oliver Spencer trainers will look great with a smarter look of slim fit chinos, fine knit sweater and unlined blazer or a casual combination of jeans and check shirt. Keep suede looking good with by using a protective spray before wearing and steaming over the kettle after wear.
