Chino styles I'm always recommending
Most of you will already have a pair of chinos in your wardrobe and if you've got the right ones, you'll be able to dress them up or down and they'll go well with the blazers you have.
But if you haven't got any chinos yet, they need updating or you fancy a different colour, then the following brands and styles are ones that I find myself frequently recommending to people and hopefully you may find something you like here too.
If you're short and slim....
These ones are great for slight guys and a good alternative to jeans as they're definitely at the casual end of smart/casual. They come in different lengths too, so if you're the sort of person that buys trousers and then never gets round to turning them up, these might be the ones for you.
'Slim Adam' burgundy chinos - Nudie - £120
If you're in between sizes.....
Spoke chinos come in different 'builds' so if you have large thighs in particular and have found it difficult to get trousers to fit these are a safe bet. Also available in 'in between' waist sizes and different lengths you can find your perfect fit.
Navy blue stretch cotton 'Heroes' chinos - Spoke - £95
If you have big thighs.....
The other ones I always recommend for large thighs are the 'fishtail' style from Oliver Spencer which are definitely more roomy. I've also tried them with someone who had large calves as well and they look great as they're still tapered at the ankle. They have this style every season in different fabrics and some of them come with matching jackets so together they can be worn as a casual suit.
Beige 'fishtail' tapered organic cotton twill trousers - Oliver Spencer at Mr Porter - £150
If you like something a little smarter.....
This style is more formal than some chinos so perfect for office wear that swings towards the smart side of smart/casual. There's a choice of colours and they'll stay looking smart with the crease down the front - which incidentally is also good for making your legs look longer if that's something you could do with.
Airforce blue 'Eastbury' slim fit chinos - Reiss - £95
If you're on a budget.......
Uniqlo is great quality at an excellent price, so if you're on a budget or just starting out in your career, then check these out. They can be hemmed in store for no extra charge, and sometimes they're even able to do it within a couple of hours.
Black stretch slim fit chinos - Uniqlo - £34.90
