Is a smart casual jacket a gap in your Autumn Winter wardrobe?

A smart/casual jacket is a gap I notice in many men's wardrobes when I visit them for a wardrobe edit. They often have smart winter coats - the sort that you'd wear over a suit, and a puffa or waterproof type jacket but the in between section is missing. The sort of thing you might wear out for lunch, or when you're visiting friends, or to a bar or pub in the evening.

So I thought I'd show you some of the ones that've been on my radar recently whilst out prepping and on personal shopping trips with clients:

Sandro aviator jacket - personal styling and shopping for men

This is one I bought with a client recently whilst shopping. The fur collar is removable and it's looks sharp and smart. Sandro tends to come up a bit small, so if you order it online, I'd go for one size up than you normally would.

Oliver Spencer check Foxham bomber jacket - personal style advisor for men

One of my clients absolutely loves Oliver Spencer and the unstructured nature of it suits his chunky frame and relaxed style, down to the ground. When he comes back to London this is one of the things I'll be getting him to try - it's a wintery version of something he already has so I'm pretty sure he's going to love it!

Universal Works chore jacket - personal styling advice for men

I've earmarked this to look at next week with a client. He doesn't want anything too heavy as he already has a puffa jacket but gets too hot in it.  Whilst I was in the shop, I saw someone trying it and though it doesn't have a great deal of hanger appeal, it looked fantastic once it was on.

Community Clothing peacoat - personal shopping for men

Okay - I have to admit I haven't actually seen this yet, but it came highly recommended to me over on Instagram when I posted about peacoats and I'm hoping to see it on David from Grey Fox blog very soon, as he promises to wear his when we next go for coffee!

Community Clothing was set up by Patrick Grant (of Norton & Sons, E Tautz & Hammond & Co at Debenhams as well as presenter of the Great British Sewing Bee) to help support British factory workers whilst provide affordable British made clothing. A great project and a great jacket, what's not to like?!

Belstaff suede field jacket - personal shopper for men

Earlier in the year, I bought a lovely lightweight waxed jacket from Belstaff with a client, so I thought I'd check out what they had for Autumn WInter. Quite a few of my clients like the idea of a leather or suede jacket and I must say I like the look of this one. Just the thing to smarten up jeans and boots, and perfect for nights out too.
