Men's casual jackets for Spring Summer 2024
When I do wardrobe edits for guys one of the things that's often missing, is a casual summer jacket. I find blazers, and the more functional "dog walking" style jackets in their wardrobes but not much in between.
Spring is (sort of!) here, so if that sounds like your wardrobe, then here are some suggestions of Spring Summer jackets to get you started.
A woodland print sounds quite daring but not so different from a camo print really. If you've already got plain chore jackets and you're looking for something different then could this be for you?
Perfect to throw over jeans and a t-shirt instantly making it look more interesting. If you want to clash your prints then go for a grey stripe t-shirt under it, and maybe cream jeans.
Or you could dress it up with a white linen shirt, and pick out the brown colour that's in the print to match to your trousers.
Woodland Canopy chore jacket - Liberty - £299
When I was doing some research for a client recently I spotted this jacket in Harrods. It looks slightly different in reality - a bit more like linen with a nice texture, though it's actually Lyocell.
Great for summer evenings when it gets a bit cooler, and lightweight to put in your bag. It could go with smarter trousers, jeans, chinos and even shorts.
'Stefano' burnt sand bomber jacket - Officine Générale at Harrods - £585
This jacket could easily take the place of a blazer in a more casual work environment, worn with a pale blue button down shirt and navy chinos.
I love the look of it with the matching trousers too, so you could have a casual suit for going out. It would be just the sort of thing I'd love to see someone dressed in at an art exhibition opening night with a beautiful scarf, or a book signing with a grandad collar shirt.
'Jonah' stretch cotton blend poplin overshirt - Officine Générale at Mr Porter - £395
This was the clear winner of the different style jackets my client tried on during his recent personal shopping trip. It looked really excellent with some smart linen blend blue trousers, a printed shirt and some suede Derby shoes.
He could wear that for summer lunches or evenings out, but it looked equally cool worn casually with jeans and a knitted polo top. I think he's going to find this super useful!
Sand cotton zip up jacket - Sandro - £379
In between a chore and a bomber, I thought this was an unusual and very wearable jacket.
It's quite a boxy style so if you're carrying a little extra weight I think this would be a great shape for you as it won't be too clingy around the waistline.
I like how they've styled it here, and you could also put it with some wide leg chinos and trainers too.
