Best seersucker clothes for men for Spring Summer 2024
Seersucker has been gathering pace in the world of menswear, and when I was prepping the other day for my client's shopping trip this weekend, I spotted it in nearly every store!
It's one of my favourite fabrics, as it's crisp and structured, doesn't screw up, and the dimpled look of the fabric gives it some interest without needing to do too much with your outfit....and who doesn't like that easy option!?
Here I've picked out some of the pieces I saw, we bought, and other pieces I think would make a great, versatile addition to your summer wardrobe.
My client very nearly bought this jacket yesterday......his girlfriend and I loved it! And there were many other reasons we thought it would have been perfect.......it looked great on him, it's super lightweight so makes it excellent for travelling (which he does loads of), it doesn't crease, it's unusual, it goes with loads of colours - navy, beige, white, pale blue, chocolate brown.
And the list went on, but for some unknown reason, he didn't think he'd wear it!? Strange but never mind, it just leaves more of them in stock for YOU!
By the way - it's a little oversized, so we sized down from what he normally wears.
Check brown and blue seersucker overshirt - Montedoro at Slowear - £825
When you want a pale blue shirt but something a little different from a regular business shirt or an Oxford shirt, then look no further.
If you work in a casual office then it's great with a wider leg chino and trainers, or with an unstructured blazer or chore jacket and chunky loafers for a smarter but not suity look.
And of course, with jeans, shorts and even swim shorts for holidays - it's a great default shirt with the added interest of that lovely seersucker texture.
Grandad Collar Seersucker Cotton Shirt - Oliver Spencer - £110
And here's something my client (the one that nearly bought the jacket above) did actually buy.....and loved! These seersucker trousers in navy are super lightweight with an elasticated waist at the back, and single pleat front.
As you can see from the image, you could wear them as a casual suit, but also we styled them with this cotton and cashmere polo knit and they looked fab.
You could wear brown suede loafers with it for a nice summer evening outfit or wear a regular t-shirt and trainers for a casual daytime look, making them super versatile - just the thing if you're going on a trip and need to pack lightly.
Navy seersucker elasticated trousers - De Fursac - £330
This could be the perfect suit for a summer wedding or a party.....when you don't want something too formal, but want to look like you've made the effort. One of the things that's great about seersucker is the more structured crisp feel it has, so if you're not a huge fan of the floppiness and creased look of linen, then it's a great alternative.
Don't you love how they've styled it with the bandana scarf instead of a tie, too? It helps to make it modern, though you could easily swap that for a pocket square if you prefer more of a classic look.
Or you could just have the blazer on its own, as it's really easy to mix with other bottom halves eg: it'd look great with light wash jeans, or white trousers (we got these ones on yesterday's personal shopping trip for men) or even navy chinos and brown suede brogues.
Sage cotton seersucker blazer - Sirplus - £355
It's a gorgeous day in London today and this is a default summer / holiday shirt. I like how the seersucker forms a striped pattern, and the flattened out collar gives a cool Cuban feel to it.
And notice how this is also styled with a bandana scarf too.....if you want to give your outfits an edge, then get on to this trend!
This shirt will literally go with everything......from shorts as you can see above, or worn open with jeans and a fine stripe t-shirt under it, to a casual navy cotton suit, or tucked in to tan cotton trousers......you'll have a gazillion options!
'Venice' striped cotton blend seersucker shirt - Massimo Alba at Mr Porter - £265

Here's what one client said about his Personal Shopping trip:
'Sarah was well prepared and had researched well before we met. She had a plan right from the start and was full of enthusiasm and ideas for the next 6 hours! We worked through her list and had found all that we had set out for by the end of the day. Her confidence and rapport with the sales staff eased all the usual tension from the clothes shopping experience and all I had to do was try on clothes. Sarah even managed to secure a couple of discounts for me.
The day after the shop, Sarah sent me a comprehensive document listing the various 'outfits' suggesting the various sensible combinations from the items I had bought. The number of different combinations testament to the thought and care taken when selecting individual items to ensure a cohesive and flexible wardrobe.'
