5 x Spring jackets

Part of the key to looking stylish year round is to look appropriate for the season. I don't like seeing tweeds in summer or linen in winter even if the temperature feels right for it.

Now the longer, warmer days are coming, dark wool coats look too wintery, so freshen up your wardrobe with a Spring jacket. You might need to master the art of layering so I've put some tips below to show you how you can wear it now to combat the chills and see you successfully through to summer.

Here I've picked a selection that I'll be bookmarking for future shopping trips with clients.

Paul Smith cotton jacket on Sartoria Lab blog personal shopping for men

Paul Smith navy cotton twill stretch Chore jacket - £255 - I do love a "shacket" in between a shirt and a jacket, don't you? If your style is casual then this is a great layer for Spring..... get maximum mileage from it by wearing it now over a t-shirt and crew neck jumper or over the top of a t-shirt and fitted denim jacket. In summer it'll be perfect with just a t-shirt underneath and you can ramp up the "cost per wear" element but carrying it through to next Autumn/Winter and wearing it under a heavier coat or with a chunky roll neck and scarf.

Hardy Amies mac on Sartoria Lab blog personal shopping for men

Hardy Amies blue mac coat - £395 - A superbly classical shape in an alternative colour. Why go for black, navy or beige when you can bring blue skies to a rainy day with this sky blue mac?! Buy it large enough to fit over a blazer and/or sweater to make it useful for longer. With fully bound internal seams this should be able to withstand a Spring shower or two and why not treat yourself to a new "storm stick" too by one of my favourite umbrella brands....London Undercover?

Gant Rugger jacket on Sartoria Lab blog personal shopping for men

Gant lightweight field jacket - £295 - Field jackets tend to come in khaki so I love the variation on the theme with this deep pine green. A useful lightweight jacket that has a zip away hood for changeable Spring days, layer up with a cotton & wool blend sweater underneath and a cotton scarf and wear with chinos or jeans at the weekends.

Jigsaw knitted jacket on Sartoria Lab blog personal shopping for men

Jigsaw cotton Milano trucker jacket - £149 - This knitted jacket is a nice piece for Spring - still cosy but giving a nod to warmer days in the lighter colour. It's versatile enough to go with jeans and a pair of Converse at the weekend, smart cotton trousers and a chambray shirt for work or even with shorts and a t-shirt (as shown on the Jigsaw website) as an extra layer for Summer evenings.

Michael Kors jacket on Sartoria Lab blog personal shopping for men

Michael Kors 3-in-1 track jacket - £255 - I spotted this jacket whilst doing a recce for a client. I love it when you get more for your money and with this jacket you get 3 in 1! It has a zip out gilet inside so you can either keep it zipped in whilst it's still a bit nippy or zip it out and wear the gilet or the jacket separately. What's not to like?

"I think you did an amazing job in terms of getting my taste and style right on such short notice. A highlight for me was actually having the confidence to know the things we bought work together - the collection of outfits email you sent after our shopping trip was amazing!"
