Spring jackets for men in 2025
Who knows - we may have snow yet, but right now in the UK it’s been sunny and getting warmer. Finally we can shed some of the layers…..or at least wear some lighter ones.
So my recent personal shopping clients have been asking for lightweight Spring jackets they can wear now and for the next few months (or possibly all Summer if it’s anything like it was last year!)
Here are some of the ones I’ve seen around whilst prepping for my menswear personal shopping trips over the past couple of weeks.
This is one of the first ones I bought with a client a few weeks back. Lightweight so it’s great for packing and you could layer up under it if need be, plus it has the added bonus of being water repellent.
A couple of things to note - it’s more of a green colour than it looks in this picture, and it comes up fairly short - my client is 5’7” and it was perfect for him.
‘Hythe’ jacket Pino khaki - Oliver Spencer - £269
I tried this one with another client last week - it was a definite contender as it was a nice fit and we liked the simple design (it doesn’t have the slight stripe that shows in this photo, it’s plain).
In the end we opted for another similar one in a more neutral beige colour. As he has a fair amount of colour in his wardrobe, we decided that would be easier to combine.
But if your wardrobe is chocka block full of navy, black and grey (like most men’s wardrobes!) this would be a great option to lighten, and spice things up a bit.
It'‘ll look excellent with denim but would also work with smarter items too like grey wool trousers or navy chinos.
Cotton jacket in ‘hazel’ - Sandro - £409
If you prefer a longer length jacket then a field jacket is always a great option.
It’ll instantly make your jeans and jumpers look very cool look for knocking around at weekends, or you could always go for a bit of Drake’s type styling and mix it with some smarter things as well.
Practical too, with all those pockets!
High density cotton hemp M-65 jacket in olive - Sage de Cret at Trunk Clothiers - £460
I can’t say I’m a fan of how they’ve styled this on the website (with the matching trousers) but with jeans, ecru cords, or navy wide leg chinos, it’s going to look great!
It’ll add some interest to plain fine knit sweaters, and will see you through to summer too as it’s very lightweight so more of an overshirt than a jacket.
You could even wear it with shorts and a white t-shirt for summer evenings.
Check pattern patch pocket overshirt - Barena Venezia at Selfridges - £550
Giving a nod to the 50s with its big patch pockets, this jacket will be a great all rounder to see you through Spring.
Not only does it transition between the seasons, it also transitions between smart and casual, meaning you can wear it with jeans, a classic grey sweashirt and Converse, or a crisp pair of pleat front chinos, long sleeved knit polo and loafers.
Cotton and nylon jacket in olive green - Montedoro at Slowear - £740
Another easy to wear option in a great subtly textured ‘cross-hatch’ fabric, which looks like it could be linen but is actually 100% cotton.
If you look better in cooler tones, than warmer beiges and camel colours, then give this cool mid brown a try. It’s a light enough colour to look summery, but not so pale, you’ll be afraid of getting it dirty all the time!
And it does come in navy too!
Cotton raffia blouson jacket in dark stone - Sunspel - £445
“Sarah was a delight to work with, and provided so much value and expertise from beginning to end.
She was thorough in her assessments and creative in finding solutions to the issues I brought up.
The experience of working with her left me with some great additions to my wardrobe and absolute clarity on how to wear them. ”
