Summer Tie Trends

Your tie will often be the focus of your outfit and it's a relatively inexpensive way to ring the changes in your work wear. Here are my observations of what's hot and what's "knot" (pardon the pun!) in tie trends this summer:

Texture - a slubby silk, linen blend or herringbone tie looks textural & modern. They're a touch more casual than a traditional silk, so don't wear for the most formal occasions.

Checks - in particular madras checks and glen checks are aplenty this season. Combine carefully with other patterns or use to invigorate a plain suit and shirt.

Knit & grenadine ties - though they've been around for awhile now I'd go so far as saying they've almost entered the realms of being a classic. A knit tie is perfect for your smart/casual outfits or to add a point of difference to classic tailoring. Or choose silk grenadine for a more formal take on it.

Brown - sneaking in with a seventies vibe, I've noticed a rise of brown in town. It works well in a textured or patterned tie like paisley or check and makes an excellent companion to a pale blue shirt and a navy jacket.
