Sunglasses for your face shape
An important part of looking good is your accessories, and stylish sunglasses can really update your look. However I know it can be traumatic shopping for them on your own, and that's probably why I often get asked to include looking for sunglasses or glasses as part of a shopping trip! In order to look good they must suit your face shape so if you're about to update your sunglasses for this summer, then here are some guidelines as to what to look for:
Sunglasses for a square face shape
When your face is very square you don't need to add more angles to it with your glasses. Rounded frame shapes will help to offset and soften the angles. Higher set arms can help to lengthen your face shape a bit too and lighter colours or ones without frames will also help to lengthen the shape which can appear short.

Sunglasses for round face shape
Round face shapes on the other hand, benefit from having angular shaped glasses. Choose squarer shapes or rectangles to flatter a face which has a curved outline. Choose the colour based on your colouring - black and dark frames suit those with darker hair and / or skin, and lighter tones will suit those with lighter hair and skin. Warm tortoiseshells are great with auburn, red or sandy coloured hair.

Sunglasses for a heart shaped face
The heart shaped face is characterised by a wide forehead and narrower, sometimes pointed chin. The trick is to draw the eye away from the wide forehead and bring more emphasis to the bottom of the face. Aviators are good for this face shape - look for ones that have a lighter colour across the top so it doesn't create a strong line at your widest area. Or you could also go for ones that have a lower bridge and lower set arms to break up the lines across your forehead.

Sunglasses for a pear shaped face or heavy jawline
The opposite of a heart shaped face is a pear shaped face which has a heavy jaw line. If you have this face shape you want to create a strong line at the forehead and bring the attention to the top of the frame rather than the bottom. This can be done by a D shaped frame where just the top half of the lenses are framed and not the bottom half. Or you could also go for a thicker chunky frame that is slightly wider at the top of the frame to bring the attention upwards.

Sunglasses for a long nose
In order to break up the line of a long nose - look for a double bridge in a darker colour or thicker frame. You could also go for one with a dipped bridge so it visually cuts across the length of the nose.
